Shifting Shadows

The gifts of God are always good and perfect. They will always be!!!!  As I read the verse below I get the following picture. Two people walking together on a sunny afternoon. They are creating (casting) shadows as the sun shines down on them. One turns to leave and her shadow shifts as she moves in the opposite direction. With our Father there is no shifting shadow because He is always walking with us in the same direction. If there is a shifting shadow it comes from our moving in the opposite direction, thus walking away from the One who loves us so much that He gave His Son to die for our redemption and freedom. I pray God will show you the shadow you are casting and reveal any tweaks necessary to realign your shadow to His!!!!  I love you!!!!
James 1:17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

As I pray, I am reminded that there is a record of one time when the Father did cast a shifting shadow.  It is recorded in Mark. It was when He turned His back on Jesus as He hung on the cross to pay the price we couldn't pay to restore us to right standing with the Father.   My heart is both sad and full of joy at the revelation that the only person whom the Father ever turned His back on was our Savior. We know He showed His back to Moses but the implication is not the same. May we never forget the cost of our salvation!!!

Mark 15:33-34, 37
"At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed his last."
