Zephaniah 3:17(NLT) "For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
(Delight is defined by Webster's Dictionary as: to take great pleasure, to give keen enjoyment, to give joy or satisfaction to)
As I read this I am impressed by three things: 1. God is taking great pleasure in us. 2. God is receiving keen enjoyment from/through us. 3. God is giving us joy and satisfaction.
Also, not only is He delighting in us, but with His love (1 John 4:18a (NLT) "Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear) He is calming our fears."
The last thing I see is that God is rejoicing over us with joyful songs. As I study scriptures I see many different purposes for singing. 1. To worship God (Psalm 100:1-2). 2. To show thankfulness to God (Col. 3:16). 3. To bring freedom (Acts 16:25-34). 4. To declare God's wonderful acts (Psalm 105:20, Isaiah 12:5, Psalm 59:16).
We are God's wonderful creation. I believe God sings over us out of His great joy in us. He is also declaring His mighty acts. His singing over us may also be bringing us freedom. As He sings over us, our spirit receives peace and freedom from the struggles. As we rejoice/praise God, our hearts and minds become free.
***Let us rejoice and praise our awesome Father and find freedom from our cares.***
