Revelation 21:5 (NLT) And the one sitting on the throne
said, “Look, I am making everything new!”
As the book of our lives 2016 opens I want to encourage us
to look for the NEW THINGS.
If 2015 was a great year and you had a record number of
successes then you definitely have something to be thankful for. However, you cannot begin this year basking
in last year’s victories. Any athlete
will tell you that a winning season doesn’t mean less hard work and practice in
the next season, if anything it means more.
From a spiritual perspective this might mean a commitment to
deeper intimacy with Christ, a more consistent prayer life, a deeper hunger for
the Word, daily crucifying our flesh and its desires and walking in obedience
to the Word.
From a physical perspective it might mean eating less or healthier
foods, committing to exercise, spending more time outside and less on the couch
watching T.V.
From an emotional perspective it might mean investing in
relationships and/or forming new ones; spending more time enjoying life rather
than constantly worrying about how to survive life. It might mean breaking off some
relationships that are causing more harm than good in our lives.
If 2015 was a difficult year and your failures far outnumber
the successes you have something to be thankful for as well. 2016 is a new beginning. We cannot wallow in the past failures and
walk into this year fearful of repeating last year’s mistakes. We must focus on the New Things. Like I’ve stated above, we must focus on our
spiritual, physical, and emotional health.
We can bounce back or get up for the first time in a long time if we
work to improve all areas of our lives.
And friend I have good news for you, you don’t have to do it alone. If we are willing to place our lives into the
hands of our Savior and follow His leading, He will walk us into the greatest
year of our lives.
He is making ALL THINGS NEW!!!!
